Sedation Options at Bear Creek Dental
At Bear Creek Dental, we offer the following modes of dental sedation:
Nitrous oxide – Patients breathe in the medication through a mask placed over their nose and mouth. The effects are mild; you’ll be awake throughout the session but won’t feel any pain. The sedation wears off quickly, allowing you to return to your daily activities once you leave the clinic.
Oral – Oral conscious sedation is slightly more moderate than nitrous oxide. You will take a pill a few hours before your appointment; by the time it starts, you’ll feel very relaxed. While you won’t be put to sleep, you will feel very tired. Since the effects can take a bit longer to wear off, it’s a good idea to have someone drive you to and from the clinic.
IV – Intravenous sedation is injected right into your bloodstream via a small needle. This option is frequently recommended to patients who suffer from higher levels of anxiety. The medication works quickly, and you’ll eventually drift off to sleep. The dentist will keep an eye on your vitals throughout the procedure. You will need someone to help you from the clinic after the appointment.
